Very early on I began writing poems, short stories and plays. I also tasted the acting waters through an amateur theatre group in Paris in the rue Chabrol. The people I met inspired me to write more. The numerous short stories and plays that I wrote over the years have made me a Gold Medal winner by the International Academy “Lutece” in Paris (France) for my play "Morphée et le voyageur sans tête”. Later I founded “Le théatre de la Griffe” and produced several plays in Paris.

My desire to learn foreign languages was triggered by a language barrier that I experienced in my own family in Brittany, where I spent all my summer vacations as a child. Even though they spoke French, they switched to Breton, (a Celtic language comparable to Gaelic) when they did not want me to understand. To me, it was a secret language and I wanted to know it. Unfortunately we were not encouraged to learn Breton at the time. As I grew older, I focused on learning English instead.

When I met my Colombian husband, I left France to find an entirely new niche - America. This is when both Spanish and English languages made an entrance in my life. Quickly enough, three babies, one after another, managed to fill our days not only with sleepless nights but also with enchantment. How my husband and I, both distinctly different in culture and language, were going to honor our respective heritage while immersing our whole family in our adoptive country, became our challenge and future. Language gives us our identity. The day we lose it, we lose our identity. This concept brought me back to Brittany. The United Nations Environmental Program says that "losing a language and its cultural context is like burning a unique reference book of the natural world." It took me a long time to understand what the Bretons, were trying to do: protect their identity and in their case revive it. This is exactly what I have been doing the last twenty years.

I believe that this path of languages lead me to become what I am today, a passionate full time professional linguist.
